Cais i Gofrestru Grin Tref neu Bentref – Tir yn Newri, Caergybi / Application to Register Town or Village Green – Land at Newry, Holyhead

Public Inquiry is to take place on Monday 3rd October 2016, for a possible total of 6 days until Monday 10th October 2016. The venue of the Public Inquiry will be the Holyhead Town Hall, Newry Street, Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey LL65 1HN.

Preparation for the Public Inquiry                                                                                   For the Inquiry we have gathered 32 witnesses each of whom has written a statement to read out in the Inquiry, after which each will be cross examined by the barristers. We have submitted 80 further statements from witnesses who will not be called to the Inquiry. All these statements have been submitted to the Inquiry in a bundle along with our application and other evidence we wish to call upon.                                                                Our Applicant Bundle is nearly 1,500 pages most printed double sided; a total of approaching 3,000 printed sides. For the Inquiry we are required to produce 2 copies for the Registration Authority (Anglesey County Council) and 2 copies for the Objectors (Conygar Stena Line Ltd and Stena Line Ports Ltd), plus one for our barrister and one for us. So in total 9,000 sheets of paper or 18,000 printed sides!!!!!!!!                                     Here is the copying arriving for us to index and file into lever arch files:

Your donations helped to pay the costs of producing 6 copies of the bundles and delivering them. Thank you. We have not yet met our target of £15,000 so please encourage friends and relatives to donate.

IT’S NOW OR NEVER to Save Our Seafront

The Waterfront Action Group, together with the generosity of public support, has so far campaigned successfully for a Public Inquiry to be held for the Registration of Newry Beach, Promenade and Greens, as a Town or Village Green.

If we achieve Registration, this will mean that the Conygar Stena Ltd proposed Waterfront Development will not go ahead on any part of the Town / Village Green, which will be free for everyone to use for recreation and leisure activities.

If Registration is not achieved, the proposed development will be able to proceed: No beach from the Maritime Museum to the Sailing Club. Plans for five storey high apartments built into the harbour, shops and offices along the shoreline. No access to the area for many years whilst disruptive building works are in progress. The unique ambiance of our Waterfront permanently destroyed.

To maximise our chance of putting our case successfully we must appoint a barrister by the middle of August, to represent us at the Public Inquiry. For this we need to raise at least £15,000 urgently.

It is NOW or NEVER to Save Our Seafront.

This is our ONE and ONLY certain chance to keep Newry Beach, Promenade and Greens intact; our Jewel in the Crown of Holyhead.

Please act now to help Save Our Seafront by making a donation here at our website (see top right hand corner of this page).
